Hey... I can tell u a trick, tell him to think in English. Think some of the simplest things of everyday needs, like when u r thirsty, u can just think in your mind that I am thirsty. Likewise, if u think atleast some 10-15 sentenses a day, you will grasp the right grammar as well as he will be interested to learn new words... N try to speak in english at home...for a while..if it is possible. U can also buy him some of the Archie's or some simple English comic books. Be his friend and ask him the story.. He can just summarise the story and this will give him confidence.. Not at once but gradually. Once he gets in tune with English language, he will admire it and will be a life-long learner of the language. We all imbibe our mother tounge and all of us right from when we are taught systematically, unknowingly or knowingly we think in that language, that makes us all proficient in that language. Try this trick for English :) it will definitely be a great help. read less

You can not motivate him, instead, you can only inspire him to be motivated by creating an environment around him to be motivated.

Banani, I think the question is more to do with motivating him than about making him learning the skills of the language. First of all find out where does his interest lie. Banani, I think the question is more to do with motivating him than about making him learning the skills of the language. First of all find out where does his interest lie. Is it cricket, is it motion pictures, is it a work of art or any other field? English is such a universal language that you would find enough material in any of the fields of his interest. Once he receives more information in that subject or topic, his interest would be generated. Once he finds that of interest, his interest would automatically get developed and he would seek to understand or know more about the means by which he could gather that information....which would obviously, in this case, be English. Then his turn of improving the skills would arise. read less
