Java is faster. 

See, every language has its own pros and cons or merits and demerits whatever you want to call it.

Python has a user friendly syntax, it is not strictly typed language meaning if you ignore using parenthesis it will allow it. So python is popular mostly because of its easy syntax and ofcourse its data science and automation applications.

 

Java on the other hand, provides a wide variety of application uses, most of the large software systems are made using Java, it has been a market leader for a long time now.

Java is faster than Python as it is a compiled language. It takes less time to execute a code. Python is an interpreted language and it determines the type of data at run time which makes it slower comparatively.

Java is much faster than Python in terms of speed of execution but slower than C++. Every bit of code(variables and functions) has to be inside the class itself. Python has a huge set of libraries and modules. Code length is lesser than Java, around 1.5 times less.
