it is possible to learn the basics of playing guitar in three months, one should not expect to become an accomplished guitarist in just a few months. However, you should be able to learn your primary chords and barre chords, being able to make chord changes easily in 6 – 24 months.

What's easier: learning the guitar or bass guitar? Why?
