I would suggest you take a mock test and divide the preparation time for each section based on your mock test score. Usually the verbal section takes more time since it is much more difficult than the quant section.

SNIGDHA getting 320 in GRE is relatively easier. Near full score in Quant and 150 - 155 in Verbal will get you thru 320. Focus more on comparisons sums and Graphs as most of the students loose score in these. Focused preparation of 3 months will do. Daily 2 hours consistent practice is enough to surpass...

Hi Snigdha, before deciding upon a schedule, one needs to know what parts to focus on verbal and quant sections. if you know your weaknesses then you ought to spend time on that. Once you do a couple of practice tests, you would know which sections to focus on in verbal as well as quant. A handy tip though: rather than spending entire day on only verbal or quant section, try interspersing practice from each section. Alternating between verbal and quant will make the practice less boring. In oreder to excel in verbal section, daily reading is a must, be it scientific journal, blogs or from other sources. Another daily practice is the vocabulary. Using flash cards, underling tough words from daily reading and looking them up later as well as practicing with your friends (asking the meaning of words) are good practices. However, in order to get to your target scores, working with a mentor/coach can give you that extra edge. Best of luck for your practice and wishing you get good scores. read less

Hi Snigdha, mock tests of most test prep companies can provide analytics to determine your weaknesses and strengths. In my opinion, you must devote equivalent time to both math and verbal. The more important question is what to exactly focus on for both sections. You're expected the score almost a full mark on Math, which means you ought to get rid of unnecessary errors (Silly calculation mistakes). Students typically make these errors in Data Interpretation questions or multiple answer questions, but then again you may be different. On Verbal, you need to maximize your score by focussing on which question type you may be struggling with(Mock test analytics can determine this fairly objectively). You may chose to show your mock test and review it with a test prep instructor for betting understanding of the way forward. All the best! read less

I would suggest that you take one demo or model paper to understand where you stand on quants section. Based on your weaknesses in quant, you can allocate time for that. If you are very good with quants section, you can allocate 1/3 of the total time for quants and remaining preparation time should be...

Answer to Q.2 It is better to continue MS immediately after your UG. Since you are going to specialize in the area of your interest a break is not advisable. In case you are going to pursue MBA, then experience becomes necessary.
